Akamai Stream Analyzer is a managed service that allows you to closely monitor the performance of your Flash and Windows media streaming assets.
Using agents from Internet backbone locations globally, the Stream Analyzer is designed and optimized to provide real-time reporting on key metrics such as:

Availability: The ability to successfully view a stream. The availability metric captures connection failures to the server, dropped connections during stream play and, startup and re buffer times that exceed acceptable limits.

Startup Time: The time taken for the stream to start playing after the end-user hits the Play button. This metric includes DNS lookup time, connect time and initial buffer time.

Effective Bitrate:The number of bits rendered on the player is the actual stream quality experienced by the end user. It quantifies the quality of end user experience, unlike metrics like packet loss and jitter that are only indicative of stream quality.

Rebuffer Ratio:The ratio of time spent in re buffering and the total play time of the stream. The number of re buffer events, and the amount of time spent re buffering, add significantly to user dissatisfaction.

Measured data that can be stored for 90 days for analysis.
